Pumpkins and Gratitude
by Shannon
P is for Pumpkin by Kathy Jo Wargin
Rhyming text presents each letter of the alphabet, and reminds the reader of God's blessings in autumn.
This book is such a great book that last through the whole autumn/fall season. We love it and read it so many times I really htink my 4 year old could read each page from memory :).
Gratitude Alphabet
Supplies:
- Posterboard
- Fall Colored Paint
- Fall Decorations
- Markers
- Get a big posterboard and decorate it up with fall colors of paint and decorations.
- Then, after everything is dry, write each letter and what your thankful for.
- You might want to take turns so each person has a letter for themselves or each person thinks of something for each letter. Whichever works best for your family!
Supplies:
- Clean Plastic/Glass Jar
- Slips of paper
- Markers or Pens
- Basket
- Get a jar and decorate it.
- Add a slip of paper with something each member is thankful for (you can do this daily or weekly) and read them all at Thanksgiving Dinner
Supplies:
- Orange and brown paint
- Blue, green and yellow construction paper
- Glue
- Scissors
- Marker
- Paintbrushes
- Your hands
- Paint the palms of each family member orange. Be sure to add some brown paint on the two middle fingers to make a stem and press hands onto construction paper.
- Let it dry and then cut around the pumpkin (I used yellow so it looks like the pumpkin is shining!).
- Glue to a big piece of green and blue construction paper (cut the blue construction paper in half and glue to the green so you have grass and a sky).
- Optional: Add the cloud Bible verse on top of the family pumpkin patch of pumpkins. Just cut out clouds and print the verse on them gluing them to the sky. Bible Verse: "Let your light so shine before men." Matthew 5:16
