Synopsis:

Sleuth and first-time mom Kate Connolly and her baby are the victims of a hit-and-run, but escape unharmed. A witness identifies the car's French diplomatic license plates, yet when Kate and her hubby try to get some answers, they get le cold shoulder. But there's something going on at the French consulate that's dirtier-and far deadlier-than any diaper.
About the Author:
Diana Orgain was born in San Francisco, CA. As a child she loved Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew mysteries and dreamed of being a writer one day.

She went on to earn her B.A and M.F.A. in Creative Writing from San Francisco State University with a minor in acting.

Diana has acted professionally in many theater roles and national commercials. She wrote several plays, which were produced at San Francisco State University, GreenHouse Productions, and PlayGround in San Francisco. But then a funny thing happened – on the way to becoming a mystery writer, she went and had a baby…

The A Maternal Instincts Mystery series was inspired by the transformational experience that motherhood brings. Battling sleep deprivation, diaper blowouts and breastfeeding mishaps Diana muddled through the creation of her first manuscript, Mommy style. Diana continues to live in the beautiful city by the bay, San Francisco, with her husband and their children.
What I Liked:

This is the third book in the series, and I've loved them all!  A fun whodunnit series, it first caught my attention because I was barely out of the newborn parenting stage and could SO relate to the main character.  The To Do lists look so much like my own - I love checking things off.  The readiness for battle where my kid is concerned, the constant paranoia as to whether I'm being the best mother I can be, if I've got my priorities straight, all of that - is something I know all about.  Fortunately, I don't always seem to find myself at the scene of the crime as Kate does.

This particular series had a bit of an international flavor that I enjoyed, with the involvement of the French consulate as well as an intriguing Mexican caterer.  And I love the way the story wraps up with the importance of family and love.

What I Didn't Like:

Got nothing for you.  One caveat:  while the main character is definitely family-friendly, some of the characters under suspicion don't quite live my definition of a family-friendly lifestyle.

Thanks to author Diana Orgain for the review and giveaway copy of this book.

Did I miss the place to enter? This looks like such a great book. Why hasn't anyone entered for such a long time? Just not wanting to be first? I hope #1 gets lucky.
