ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Jeremy V. Jones has played soccer throughout his life, including being goalkeeper for his high school team. Now he coaches his daughter’s team when he’s not writing about sports, outdoor adventure, music, and other fun topics. Jeremy is an award-winning writer and former editor of Breakaway magazine, whose recent books include Walking on Water. He absolutely adores his wife, daughter, and son—and most of the time things his two dogs are pretty cool, too. The whole family loves to travel and explore the Colorado Mountains near their home.

What I Liked:  I personally enjoyed reading this book! The Brazil setting complemented nicely the book I had just read about missions in Brazil (Misadventures in Travel).  Even though I don't follow international soccer, I had no trouble getting into it through this book.  And I thoroughly appreciated the Christian example provided through a sports star...

In addition to an interesting story, there were facts sheets interspersed throughout to give the reader background information - so it would make a great addition to a study on soccer or Brazil.

What I Didn't Like:  I would wholeheartedly recommend this for the tween age.  The one possible negative is that, since it is set in the current time, it could be considered an outdated book a few years from now.
