Synopsis:
What happens when the boy she loved to hate becomes the man she hates to love?

The 1920s are drawing to a close, and feisty Katie O'Connor is the epitome of the new woman--smart and sassy with goals for her future that include the perfect husband and a challenging career in law. Her boyfriend Jack fits all of her criteria for a husband--good-looking, well-connected, wealthy, and eating out of her hand. But when she is forced to spend the summer of 1929 with Luke McGee, the bane of her childhood existence, Katie comes face-to-face with a choice. Will she follow her well-laid plans to marry Jack? Or will she fall for the man she swore to despise forever?
About the Author:
Julie Lessman is the author of A Passion Most Pure, A Passion Redeemed, and A Passion Denied. Lessman has garnered several writing awards, including ten Romance Writers of America awards. She lives in Missouri.
What I Liked: While the length of this book might at first glance appear daunting, I found it to be a real page-turner.  Great character development and lots of twisting drama kept the story moving.

I've decided I love reading about this time-period - the 1920s - when women were trying to figure out exactly where they fit into things, trying on new roles and figuring out that some of them didn't fit so well.  The challenges of the time are well incorporated into the story.

And the characters... Wow.  The author does a great job in introducing all of them and jumping between their stories flawlessly.  I feel like part of the family, or like I wish I could be!  Very real, lots of issues, but ultimately with a great faith in God.

There are so many characters here that I see plenty of room for future books in this series, and I hope to read them all!

What I Didn't Like: Not a whole lot!  The cover made me cringe at first, but it really fits the storyline and timeframe, so I've decided I like it, after all...

Thanks to Baker Publishing Group for the review copy of this book.

Great review. I've always liked the cover, the artist caught that undaunted look to perfection. I also like the story line, the roaring 20's was such a free and rather careless time. This reader is looking forward to a great read. Thanks for the giveaway and the chance to win it....hope I do!

Blessings,

Hi, just wanted to remind you and Julie that my birthday is coming up Sunday, Oct. 10. It would be a wonderful birthday gift to win Julie's book. I've been trying so hard to win it, and I haven't been picked as the winner yet. Hey, I'm not getting any younger, that's for sure....and right at this minute I'm as young as I'll ever be! Eww..depressing thought, but I'm excited about the future. I hope it includes a good read, like Julies book. Thanks for the giveaway and the chance to win. I hope I do!

Blessings,
