ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Melody Carlson has written more than 200 books for teens, women, and children. Before publishing, Melody traveled around the world, volunteered in teen ministry, taught preschool, raised two sons, and worked briefly in interior design and later in international adoption. “I think real-life experiences inspire the best fiction,” she says. Her wide variety of books seem to prove this theory.

AND NOW...THE FIRST CHAPTER:

What I Liked:  I enjoyed the insight into a world far from my own - the fashion industry!  I enjoyed the author's take on the real lives of the famous; she brought them down to earth in this book, even bringing out some of the challenges they face from a Christian perspective.  And the character development - the contrast between the sisters, for instance - was intriguing and realistic.

This was an overall easy, light read with a little romance, some tragedy, some heart-searching moments.  Though the second in a series, it stood alone pretty well (I haven't read the first).  It definitely sets the stage for an upcoming book that I will just have to get my hands on after reading this one!

What I Didn't Like:  For me, this was an entertaining rather than a thought-provoking read.  Which is not a bad thing, but I probably won't remember much of the storyline a couple of years from now...
