My Review
I don't cry in movies much. Books - a whole 'nother story. I'm drawn to books about tragedy, even the younger-set ones - I still scan the Youth section of the library for any Lurlene McDaniel new releases from time to time.
So this book fits right down my alley. Written from the perspective of an eleven-year-old losing her mother to cancer, it's touching and heart-breaking all the way.
And she writes poetry - beautiful and believable. Through verse and through imagery, the author gives us a glimpse into her mind, and into the understanding that God IS love, and that you should never blame the umpire...

Love this book. My 12 yr old grand daughter's father passed away in Oct 09 of Renal Sarcoma and I think she would take away something good after reading this book. She did not want to go back to her Mom so she is living with my daughter.

enter me please. ever since I became a mom - a three year old, I'm a bit superstitious - if that's the word...dreaming of things like this happening and what it would mean to my little one - or something happening to him - I won't even buy those sweet mom necklaces...so I almost didn't sign up for a chance to win this, but it seems touching and beautiful
I'm a follower. I read a comment about it seeming like a cute book...doesn't seem so cute...but a rich read nonetheless
