My Review

I'll be honest here. When I requested this book classified as "Celtic spiritualty," I wasn't sure what to expect. I've reviewed a few books here that fall off on the far end of Christian - stuff that mixes eastern religions with Christianity, for instance, and I thought this might fall somewhere in that far end. I'm a little ignorant of what "Celtic" means.

I was more than pleasantly surprised. This is an incredibly uplifting book of worship, praise, and meditation, with the key focus being God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

You might see a red flag in the chapter of Celtic saints, but even there, what I found was biographies of some amazing, inspirational people.

There is of course, much about tradition and history, but that would be expected from this type of book. In our trip to England and Scotland last year, we toured a number of old churches, and the feeling of awe and majesty that surrounded us in those places really made me reevaluate my prejudices towards "traditional" Christianity. There is so much we can learn from the old and powerful hymns and poetry that have lasted through to this day, and the book is full of such, along with powerful poetry of the author herself.

If you're looking for a sweet, meaningful gift book filled with beautiful photos, this one's for you.

Wow, Jane, thank you so much for your very warm and generous review of my book. I'm delighted!

I can quite understand how you might be wary of some Celtic books, so am I! I have a missionary heart which is why I believe God called me to write this book both for your country and mine (UK). It is a vehicle through which those who have an interest in Celtic spirituality, might come to know Jesus. It's also inspiring for Christians, too, because Celtic Christianity is a picture of Acts in action!

I'm just rehearsing Celtic Treasure as a concert presentation to widen the outreach of the book. The premiere is next week! I hope to bring this to the US some time.

Am in Colorado in May teaching on the CCWC writers conference.

Many thanks,
Liz
