---------------
In honor of Remembrance or Veterans Day today, we've got a giveaway of a great book set in Switzerland during WWII! There are a myriad of ways people serve, and this book is a reminder of some of the obvious and not-so-obvious service roles.

The Swiss Courier by Tricia Goyer and Mike Yorkey is a 336-page paperback released in October 2009. List price for this Christian historical fiction paperback is $13.99.

Here's the publisher's description of the book:

"It is August 1944 and the Gestapo is mercilessly rounding up suspected enemies of the Third Reich after an attempt on Hitler's life. Gabi Mueller is a young woman working for the newly formed American Office of Strategic Services (the forerunner to the CIA) in Switzerland. When she is asked to put herself in harm's way to safely "courier" a German scientist who is working on the atomic bomb out of enemy territory, the fate of the world hangs in the balance."

Here's what we've got to say about it:
I've heard a lot of good things about Tricia Goyer as an author and was looking forward to reading this book. I was not disappointed. The combination of the two writers results in a book that will appeal to readers of both genders.
This reads like a fast-moving thriller with a Christian perspective and a female heroine. Some of the twists are predictable, and some not so much, with a few surprises saved for the happy ending... Plenty of action with a touch of romance for the romance lovers.

I always appreciate a female character who is strong, sensitive, and also recognizes the godly role of the man or men in her life. The authors deliver this.

And of course, the historical facts intrigue me. It was interesting to read how the attempted assassination of Hitler resulted in a chain of events that significantly affected the development of the atomic bomb by German scientists. And I learned more about the role Switzerland played during WWII - I hadn't realized exactly how it was impacted by the war before.

A terrific book that highlights both the tragedies and the courageous acts during war.

Thanks to Donna Hausler and Baker Publishing Group for the review copy of this book. Visit The Swiss Courier page at Baker Publishing Group's site for more information, including a book trailer, or to purchase.

As the co-author of "The Swiss Courier," it's great to see all the interest in our World War II-era thriller. There are a lot of plot twists, and readers have been telling us that we've been keeping them up late to finish the last 50 pages. Thanks, Jane, for the positive review, and it's great to see the interest from those following your blog. I spent three years, off and on, working on the novel, so there's a ton of research, but it's all woven in the plotline. No one has been able to figure out how "The Swiss Courier" ends yet, so there are some great surprises. Thanks again, Mike Yorkey
