AND NOW...THE FIRST CHAPTER:

My Review

Robert A. Schuller is upfront in stating that life doesn't always go the way we hope it will. We may have the best intentions of staying close to God and following His will. But "stuff" keeps pushing us away, whether it's guilt, shame, rebellion, regrets, humiliation, fear, disappointment, anxiety, confusion, trials, brokenness, disease, grief, bitterness, rejection... you name it! A lot of this stuff is outside of our control and can easily veer us off course.

Filled with anecdotes, quotes, texts, and questions for reflection or discussion, this book reads like a series of short sermons addressing each of these factors that can get in our way. Each one stands alone in bringing us back on course in a specific area. Combined, I think you'll find a collection that can speak to each one of us in some area or another of our lives. This motivational series ends with a focus on what truly matters, discovering God's plan for your life, living a fruitful life, and grasping the power to live forever.

I would love the opportunity to read this book in greater depth, perhaps in a discussion group that meets weekly to go through the questions. I can see these chapters triggering testimonies from others that I'd love to hear.

Definitely a recommended book for anyone who is looking for a close walk with God but keeps finding life getting in the way...

Your final comment pretty much sums up my spiritual life at the moment - "looking for a close walk with God but keeps finding life getting in the way." I have seen reviews of this book and have been thinking about purchasing it. Thank you for the chance to win.

This sounds like my kind of book. It peaked my interest when I read that the author said that "lots of this stuff is outside of our control and can easily veer us off course". So true.
